"I've been busy"

For weeks, months and probably all my life now, I have asked someone I know, "What have you been up to?" And the answer many times has been "Busy". More recently, its been the answer to why something isn't done or why I haven't heard from a person. Nonetheless, it is still frustrating.

It's hard not to say it myself, I must admit. Most of the time when I do, it's my excuse for not hanging out with someone who isn't on my priority "list". Or to avoid something I don't want to do. Every once in a while I say it to a person I do hold dear to my heart and want to spend time with them, but there hasn't been a good time to "fit them in".

Inconvenience makes us use this dreadful phrase. It's not that you don't want to hang out or go to the party or call the family member, it's that you can't "fit them in". But does this excuse you? Probably not. Your loved ones are worth your time. Close or far.

I have a friend who constantly tells me he's busy and I realized it's not a great feeling when it makes you feel not as important as everything or everyone else in their lives. So why do it? Therefore, today call that family member and this weekend go to that party. Make an extra effort. You never know whatcha gonna get.
